This is Gudrun Cecilia Antonia Anderson Johanson, my paternal Grandmother. She is the reason I am so passionate about healthcare design.
Having moved frequently as a child, my environment became very important to me. I was 19 when my elderly grandmother was volunteered to look after me while my parents were working and living abroad. I never imagined the then-undiagnosed dementia my grandmother suffered from would help shape my future career. Her fears and fragility made a mark on my soul and created a passion for design for older adults and healthcare spaces.
I was fortunate enough to start my career working in the design office of a private healthcare corporation whose primary focus was caring for older adults. With services like Adult Day Care, Independent and Assisted Living, Skilled Nursing and Memory Care, there was much to do. Working closely with not only users but Facilities and Environmental Services Departments on a daily basis created a healthy respect for the in-house team.
After leaving DelmaPacifica, I established my own interior design consulting firm in 1998, and worked closely with and for Snowden Design Inc. for twelve years until 2010. KE Design continues to enjoy ongoing work with a number of healthcare providers, architects, doctors and owners.
KE Design offers a full range of interior design services.
